A food center where Energy Way provides the energy

The Campo Rubiales Food Production Center is the largest in the country, with an area of 5.255 square meters of construction and a capacity for 2.700 servings per shift, processing around 20 tons of food per day.

In this project, ENERGY WAY busways of 2.500, 1.250 and 630 amperes were installed for the substation interconnection and energy distribution.

Solutions such as feeder and distributor busways were installed, with approximately 80 plug-in outlet boxes (with their protections), located near each of the equipment to be powered. This avoided the need to run wiring from the substation to each individual piece of equipment.

As a result, the operation of the low-voltage panels in the substation was optimized, as only the main totalizers, which protect the main busways circuits, remained connected to them.

The execution of this project was carried out during the year 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated lockdowns, we managed to meet the standards and delivery timelines set by our client. The manufacturing process required additional effort and special conditions on our part, given the circumstances. Regarding the fieldwork, it also demanded extra effort from the contracted firm, LADEE (Laboratorio de Ensayos Eléctricos) JLB SAS from Barranquilla, who, with their experience, installed them on-site.

A company that underwent a renewal to become more productive

With a production plant of 10.000 square meters, Filtros Partmo decided to upgrade its power distribution system in the year 2021.

Before the renovation, the energy distribution was structured using electrical cables on cable trays. They had a circuit of 2.500 A at 220 V, with a length close to 80 meters, and a circuit of 1.000 A at 440 V, with a length also close to 80 meters.

These circuits faced issues with regulation, energy losses, heating, and imbalances; therefore, Partmo decided to replace the wiring with ENERGY WAY busways.

With this change, energy losses were substantially improved, heating reduced, and electrical regulation significantly enhanced, not to mention the overall aesthetic improvement of the plant.

This renovation was a success for Filtros Partmo as they recovered their investment approximately two years later, thanks to the energy savings provided by ENERGY WAY busways.

The Sky Club with cutting-edge design and technology

The Infinity Sky Club is a 38 floor skyscraper located in Bucaramanga. It features 287 apartments and 3.000 square meters of social areas.

For this iconic mega-project, we used ENERGY WAY busways in the substation interconnection, which were 2.500 A at 1.000 V.

The interconnection of high currents, such as 2.500 A, requires a large number of parallel cables; in this case, about 40 cables for each phase circuit plus the neutral.

For the transfer switchboard (which receives the transformer, the plant, and the transfer output), it could be managing around 120 cables, making it almost impossible to achieve this interconnection just with cables. It would require large-sized electrical panels and an additional system for heat dissipation due to the quantity of cables.

In this particular case, there was no space for a vault below the panels or at the top, making it more convenient, practical, and cost-effective to carry out the interconnections with busways that pass through the top plate of the panel. This utilized the space beneath the vehicle access ramp.

In this particular case, there was no space for a vault below the panels or at the top, making it more convenient, practical, and cost-effective to carry out the interconnections with busways that pass through the top plate of the panel. This utilized the space beneath the vehicle access ramp.

In the same way, the totalizer panel, emergency plant, and distribution were interconnected.

FOOD GROUP ALBA DEL FONCE

A Santander-based company that reinvented itself to stay in the market

In the year 2020, Grupo Alba del Fonce decides to relocate its facilities to Piedecuesta (Santander), where they build a processing plant for grains, chocolate, and coffee with high-tech equipment and automated processes.

In the new and modern food plant, ENERGY WAY busways were installed as feeder type, with ratings of 1.000 A and 1.250 A (both at 1.000 V) for interconnecting distribution panels at 440 V. Approximately 80 meters of busway were installed in total.

The busways were secured using trusses at a height of over 8 meters, ensuring that the installation was aesthetically pleasing without compromising functionality.

The busway entry into the panel was done from the bottom or floor, using a flange-type duct connected to the panel’s totalizer.

The project required an exterior road crossing (between one warehouse and another) at a height that would allow truck passage. The solution was implemented through a canopy-shaped roof, protecting the busway from rain. Care was taken to leave the cover wide enough to prevent rain with wind, at an angle of about 60º to the vertical, from falling onto the busway.

With this energy busway system, the company was able to modernize its processes, acquiring high-tech equipment and automating parts of its production without experiencing electrical issues or having to consider expansions of its electrical network for the near future.

Grupo Alba del Fonce is now much more productive and satisfied with the progress of their company and the growth of their facilities. We are grateful to have been part of this process. The experience with GADF led us to the development of the canopy system for busways outdoors, which is already part of our permanent portfolio of solutions and products.

AVIDANTI

The clinic that placed Colombia in the ranking of the best hospital institutions worldwide

Avidanti constructed a high-complexity clinic in the city of Santa Marta, with a capacity of 148 hospital beds and a special emphasis on cardiovascular services, hemodynamics, specialized surgery, orthopedics, internal medicine, urology, among others. These facilities also host health prevention programs, continuous education programs, and social programs as support pillars for patient recovery.

For the interconnection of the substation in this significant project, ENERGY WAY busways of 4.000 A at 1.000 V were installed, configured as two busways of 2.000 A in parallel, each with their respective couplings at each of their terminals.

As in similar situations, cable interconnection was unfeasible due to the quantity of cables and required space, in addition to the generated heat.

This project once again tested our ENERGY WAY busways, as we had to meet high-quality standards in manufacturing to prevent corrosion from the environment and minimize heating. Once again, our ducts passed all tests and continue to operate without issues to date.
